AHSEP Programs are popular and space is limited.

With Novice, Intermediate and Advanced Programs, and multiple session schedule options, AHSEP has something for every sailor!

AHSEP is THE summer junior sailing program for sailors of ALL levels.  Scroll down for class/ program options.

Classes are offered in two-week segments for either morning (9am-noon) or afternoon (1pm-4pm) sessions. Within each session, sailors are instructed in groups based on skill level.  All registrants will receive a limited edition AHSEP t-shirt and water-bottle as well as be eligible for other prizes and awards during each session.
As we approach the summer of 2021, AHSEP will schedule a Parent/Guardian Orientation meeting which will be mandatory for any first time registrants.  This meeting (likely a virtual zoom meeting) will provide a detailed overview of the AHSEP program, the  safeguards and guidelines to be adhered to for the safety and good health of all participants, and a chance for parents/guardians to ask any questions they may have.  Once the parent/guardian orientation session is scheduled, we will send an email to provide the logistical details.

AHSEP 2021 Sandy Hook Bay Thursday Night Dinghy Series (Open to 2021 AHSEP Advanced Students contingent on equipment availability)
The Atlantic Highlands Sailing Education Program (AHSEP) invites experienced sailors of all ages to come and enjoy the warm water and terrific evening sailing conditions in Sandy Hook Bay this Summer.  This is not an instructor supervised event but rather a mid-week racing opportunity in which experienced AHSEP sailors can participate.  The series will be sailed each Thursday evening during the summer. We expect a good turnout of Lasers. Sailors of other classes such as the 420 or Opti should contact us before registering to confirm there is sufficient interest in a particular class. AHSEP will have some vessels available for our 2021 class registrants to use for this series based on a first-come first-served basis and only if pre-booked with AHSEP.   Register here for this event:
Open Sailing Nights  (Open to 2021 AHSEP students)

Join us on designated weekday evenings (TBD for 2021 but typically Tuesdays, weather permitting) from 5:30 to 8:30. Students have the opportunity to take advantage of the evening sessions to fine tune their skills, and parents can come and watch if they wish. Existing students who have completed the novice session eligible to participate.

Weekday evenings (TBD) from 5:30 - 8:30pm.

FEE:  $40 per night

Junior Sweepstakes Regatta  (Open to 2021 AHSEP students)

Four days of racing on the Shrewsbury and Navesink Rivers. Boats (Optis and 420s) are provided by AHSEP, but parents are needed to help with boat transport. Lunch is also provided each day.  More details will be provided nearer to the event. Registration and payment will be managed offline.

Tentative  Aug. 2-5, 2021

FEE:  $300 (includes race and instructor fees)

Sailing Adventure Week  (Open to 2021 Intermediate and Advanced Sailors)

This is a one week session concluding the summer, and is open to current AHSEP students with requisite skills and experience. Instead of racing, the focus will be on enjoying sailing in other ways. Weather permitting, we plan to have activities such as long distance sailing across the bay, sailing to a beach for a picnic, a pirate treasure hunt, and sailing games requiring advanced tactical skills. Sailors may also have the opportunity to experience sailing on other types of vessels (beyond the optis, 420s and lasers typically used in the instructional sessions) like Zuma, Sunfish and crewing on larger keel boats.  Space is limited.  More details will be provided for qualified sailors nearer to the event. Registration and payment will be managed offline.

Tentative Aug. 9-13 (traditionally the week after Junior Sweepstakes Regatta)

FEE:  $350

AHSEP hosts an annual regatta bringing sailors from many area youth sailing programs together to compete in the spectacular Sandy Hook Bay in view of the New York skyline and plenty of shoreline for spectators.  The date for the AHSEP AWESOME REGATTA is set in early Spring.  This regatta will take place at the Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club, where the AHSEP program is run during the entire summer. Races will be held for 4 divisions of Optis (Green, White, Blue and Red), a Club 420 fleet and Lasers contingent on enough registrants for each class.  More details will be provided nearer to the event.
