AHSEP Programs are popular and space is limited.

Programs/Schedules/Fees

With Novice, Intermediate and Advanced Programs, and multiple session schedule options, AHSEP has something for every sailor!

AHSEP is THE summer junior sailing program for sailors of ALL levels.  Scroll down for class/ program options.

Classes are offered in two-week segments for either morning (9am-noon) or afternoon (1pm-4pm) sessions. Within each session, sailors are instructed in groups based on skill level.  All registrants will receive a limited edition AHSEP t-shirt and water bottle as well as be eligible for other prizes and awards during each session.

As we approach the summer of 2022, AHSEP will schedule a Parent/Guardian Orientation meeting which will be mandatory for any first-time registrants.

This, late May-early June meeting (virtual or in-person, TBD), will provide a detailed overview of the AHSEP program, the safeguards and guidelines to be adhered to for the safety and good health of all participants, and a chance for parents/guardians to ask any questions they may have.

Once the parent/guardian orientation session is scheduled, we will send an email to provide the logistical details.

The AHSEP AWESOME Regatta

AHSEP hosts an annual regatta at the end of July, bringing sailors from many area youth sailing programs together to compete in the spectacular Sandy Hook Bay in view of the New York skyline and plenty of shoreline for spectators.  The date for the AHSEP AWESOME REGATTA is set in early Spring.  This regatta will take place at the Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club, where the AHSEP program is run during the entire summer. Races will be held for 4 divisions of Optis (Green, White, Blue and Red), a Club 420 fleet and Lasers contingent on enough registrants for each class.  More details will be provided nearer to the event.

Junior Sweepstakes Regatta (Open to 2022 AHSEP Sailors)

Four days of racing on the Shrewsbury and Navesink Rivers traditionally held the first week of August hosted by Shrewsbury Sailing and Yacht Club (SSYC) and Monmouth Boat Club (MBC). Instructors, chase boats and sailing vessels (Optis and 420s) are provided by AHSEP, but parents are needed to help with boat transport.  Lunch is also provided each day.  More details will be provided nearer to the event.  Registration and payment will be managed offline.

AHSEP Adventure Week (Open to Advanced 2022 AHSEP Sailors)

Traditionally held the last week of our program following the Sweepstakes Regatta, this is a special week of sailing for sailors who exhibited advanced skills during our summer program based on the assessment of our Program Director and Instructors.  During adventure week, sailors take on new types of sailing vessels like Catamarans, Sunfish and Lasers and go on long distance sails across to Sandy Hook.  Every day of Adventure Week will have its own theme and a new adventure for the sailors.  The week is capped off with a chance to sail as crew on larger hull vessels made available by Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club members.  During the summer, sailors skills will be assessed for a potential invite to participate in Adventure Week and registration and payment will be handled offline.

The AHSEP End-of-Season Family BBQ

AHSEP hosts an annual BBQ open to all sailors and family and held at the Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club to celebrate an awesome sailing season.  It is truly a special tradition for AHSEP and a great chance for all the sailors to reunite and have some great food and tell some tall tales.  More details will be provided nearer to the event and rsvp and payment will be handled offline.
