AHSEP Programs are popular and space is limited.
With Novice, Intermediate and Advanced Programs, and multiple session schedule options, AHSEP has something for every sailor!
AHSEP is THE summer junior sailing camp for sailors of ALL levels. Scroll down for class options.
The novice program is an introduction to sailing for youth beginning at age 8 to 15. Students learn sailing basics including sailing safety, boat nomenclature, rigging, points of sail and related sail trim, basic sailing knots, capsize recovery, and teamwork.
The intermediate program focuses on sailing skill improvement for youth ages 8 to 17 years. The curriculum first reviews the basics as presented in the novice program. Then, students learn more advanced sailing skills including crew responsibilities and teamwork, crew position and boat balance, sail trim and shape, building boat speed, enhancing boat performance on various points of sail, and introduction to racing. Students entering the class must submit US Sailing Red Books showing that they can safely steer a boat in all points of sail and have mastered capsize recovery skills.
The advanced program focuses on racing and boat handling skills. This program is for graduates of the intermediate program and provides on-the-water coaching to improve sailing and racing skills.
Classes are offered in two-week segments for either morning (9am-noon) or afternoon (1pm-4pm) sessions. Within each session, sailors are instructed in groups based on skill level. All registrants will receive a limited edition AHSEP t-shirt and water-bottle as well as be eligible for other prizes and awards during each session.
Full-day coverage (including during the break hour of noon - 1pm) may be available for sailors registering for both morning and afternoon segments in the same two-week session(s). Please inquire at for details, conditions and costs for this option.
