The AHSEP AWESOME Regatta

AHSEP hosts an annual regatta at the end of July, bringing sailors from many area youth sailing programs together to compete in the spectacular Sandy Hook Bay in view of the New York skyline and plenty of shoreline for spectators.  The date for the AHSEP AWESOME REGATTA is set in early Spring.  This regatta will take place at the Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club, where the AHSEP program is run during the entire summer. Races will be held for 4 divisions of Optis (Green, White, Blue and Red), a Club 420 fleet and Lasers contingent on enough registrants for each class.  More details will be provided nearer to the event.

Junior Sweepstakes Regatta (Open to 2023 AHSEP Sailors)

Four days of racing on the Shrewsbury and Navesink Rivers traditionally held the first week of August hosted by Shrewsbury Sailing and Yacht Club (SSYC) and Monmouth Boat Club (MBC). Instructors, chase boats and sailing vessels (Optis and 420s) are provided by AHSEP, but parents are needed to help with boat transport.  Lunch is also provided each day.  More details will be provided nearer to the event.  Registration and payment will be managed offline.

AHSEP Adventure Week (Open to Advanced 2023 AHSEP Sailors)

Traditionally held the last week of our program following the Sweepstakes Regatta, this is a special week of sailing for sailors who exhibited advanced skills during our summer program based on the assessment of our Program Director and Instructors.  During adventure week, sailors take on new types of sailing vessels like Catamarans, Sunfish and Lasers and go on long distance sails across to Sandy Hook.  Every day of Adventure Week will have its own theme and a new adventure for the sailors.  The week is capped off with a chance to sail as crew on larger hull vessels made available by Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club members.  During the summer, sailors skills will be assessed for a potential invite to participate in Adventure Week and registration and payment will be handled offline.

The AHSEP End-of-Season Family BBQ is Thursday, August 17th, 2023 at 6pm

AHSEP hosts an annual BBQ open to all sailors and family and held at the Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club to celebrate an awesome sailing season.  It is truly a special tradition for AHSEP and a great chance for all the sailors to reunite and have some great food and tell some tall tales.  More details will be provided nearer to the event and rsvp and payment will be handled offline.
